No one thing captures the imagination more among new divers than the thought of their very first night dive.
What will be down there?
Who will help me?
How will I see where I'm going?
The difference between diving your favourite dive site during the day and at night are enormous. Many of the creatures underwater are nocturnal, so night exploration heralds a magnificent experience.
Like witnessing crayfish, that forage the sea floor for small prey after dusk, as opposed to seeing them merely peeking out of rock crevices during the day.
So how does it benefit you?
The PADI Night diver specialty course manual guides you through the necessary equipment to complete a night dive- safety procedures, buoyancy control, entering and exiting techniques and communication signals between buddy teams.
During the Knowledge Development section, the instructor will describe and discuss
the many different types of light sources available.
Be sure to ask as many questions as you can in relation to the use of:
1. Rechargeable batteries
2. Bulbs
3. Beam widths
4. Depth ratings.
This information is critical once you are comfortable to purchase your personal light sources to suit your requirements.
Not to forget, the PADI Night Diver rating along with all PADI specialty courses count towards your PADI Master Scuba diver rating.
